Lisburn Whites SC
After a number of years dormant The Lisburn Whites Supporters Club were reformed when a group of 20-30 supporters from the Lisburn area meet in the Social Club at Ballyskeagh on a cold February night in 1993. That April seen the Club present its 1st Player of the Season Award which was a shield presented by Ironside Trophies which is still used to the present day.
The following few years we organised buses to away games and at the end of the season presented the Player of the Season award on the pitch at the last home game. To move the awards forward it was decided to include it in an end of season awards night along with a Night at the Races, This has now turned into one of the biggest nights in the clubs season as it now includes the Internet, Programme, Stewards and Players Player of the season awards.
2001 seen the supporters club take on its biggest event in its history when it organised the 30th anniversary dinner for the Distillery-Derry City Irish Cup Final. Players from both teams there present on the night but the highlight of the event took place before the dinner started when team mate from the cup final day Martin O’Neill called and spoke to all the players.
Over the years the supporters club have also organised reunions for the 1963 League winning team and the first Distillery team to play at Ballyskeagh. In 2005 the supporters club helped organise the football clubs 125th anniversary dinner. An event to honour all players who have scored over 50 goals for Distillery was also held where Joy Collins the daughter of all-time leading goal scorer Sam McAdam unveiled a plaque with all the players’ names on it.
The fore mentioned plaque can be seen in the Lisburn Whites Memorabilia Exhibition which is situated in the club shop and includes medals, programmes, shirts and an original minute book dating back to late 1800s.
